About this tool

Plan US workdays.
Skip the guesswork.

A US business days calculator helps you answer practical planning questions such as how many working days remain before a delivery, when an invoice term ends, or what date falls 10 business days from today. Calendar days include every date, but business-day schedules normally exclude Saturdays and Sundays. The difference becomes important when a deadline crosses a weekend, a federal holiday, the end of a month, or a year boundary.

GeoTimeTools gives you two simple choices. Select Weekends only when you need a Monday-through-Friday count, or choose Weekends + US public holidays when the date range should also remove the US public holiday dates stored in the calendar data. Set the start and end dates, decide whether each endpoint counts, and compare the separate business-day, weekday, weekend, and public-holiday totals. The page also lists each public holiday in the considered range. The calculation runs in your browser, so no dates need to be uploaded and the answer updates as you edit the form.

This working days calculator is useful for project schedules, service-level targets, payment terms, notice periods, school planning, shipping estimates, payroll preparation, and everyday date math. It is a planning aid rather than legal or contractual advice. Employer closures, state holidays, local observances, substitute days, and industry-specific calendars can change the actual number of working days. When a deadline has financial or legal consequences, compare the result with the official calendar or policy that governs your work.

Weekdays versus US public holidays

Weekends only removes Saturdays and Sundays. The US public holiday option keeps that weekend rule and also removes the public holiday dates available for 2026 and 2027. The include-start and include-end controls let you match “within five business days” with your organization’s counting convention.

Observed dates and local policies

Public holiday schedules can include observed dates when a holiday falls on a weekend, and organizations may follow federal, state, local, or company-specific rules. Use the result as a transparent estimate, then verify an official schedule for payroll, contracts, government filings, or customer commitments.

Frequently asked

Questions,
answered.

What does the US public holiday option exclude?

It excludes the US public holiday dates stored in GeoTimeTools’s 2026 and 2027 calendar data, in addition to Saturdays and Sundays. State holidays and private company closures may require a separate adjustment.

Does this calculator count the start date?

Yes, the start date is included by default. Turn off Include start date when your organization begins counting on the following day.

What is the difference between calendar days and business days?

Calendar days include weekends and holidays. Business days keep weekdays and then optionally remove the selected US public holiday dates.
